However, the Electric Power Sector Reform Act, 2005 has been replaced by the Electricity Act, 2023. The new Electricity Act extends the scope of electricity generation, transmission, and distribution to state governments and interested individuals, beyond the 11 existing distribution companies.\nThe Act stipulates that modern accurate meters systems with reliable communication facilities should be deployed across the industry production and \nsupply chain to measure and record energy production and utilization. \n\n\n<h1>Purpose of the Metering Code:<\/h1> \n<h4>The purpose of the Metering Code is to ensure financial viability of the electricity industry after the unbundling. However, the Electric Power Sector Reform Act, 2005 has been replaced by the Electricity Act, 2023. The new Electricity Act extends the scope of electricity generation, transmission, and distribution to state governments and interested individuals, beyond the 11 existing distribution companies.\nThe Act stipulates that modern accurate meters systems with reliable communication facilities should be deployed across the industry production and \nsupply chain to measure and record energy production and utilization. \n\n\n<h1>Purpose of the Metering Code:<\/h1> \n<h4>The purpose of the Metering Code is to ensure financial viability of the electricity industry after the unbundling.
